One major group of people that face adversity are refugees. There are 13.5 million Syrian refugees who have located to Turkey for safety and 4.8 million outside Syria, the rest Syrian (SyrianRefugees.eu). Lots of people in need of safety, shelter, food, etc., so why are Americans turning a blind eye to them? Many believe that Syrian refugees, or refugees in general, should stay in their home country or not come to America because "it's not their country" or "they don't belong here". Many also believe that they're terrorists, similar to ISIS (psychologytoday.com). This crisis is the biggest since WWII with the Jewish refugees that fled the concentration camps/Germany. With Trump in presidency right now, and him having no sympathy towards refugees, he signed a 4 month ban on letting refugees into the U.S.A (Reuters article, Google.com). So it looks like the horrible things that the refugees are going through right now won't end soon.
From reading your blog, I see where you are coming from. Yes, these refugees are innocent and did nothing wrong to deserve the 4 month ban. But what would happen if the ban was never put into place? Do you believe that terrorists would be able to enter the states undetected? and also cause chaos? Another way to look at it is as a period of time for the United States to get our act together before we give access to a possible threat to enter the states.
ReplyDeleteI agree wiht you that a lot of refugees are innocent and are just trying to have a better life by coming to America, but that doesn't mean that the 4 month ban that President Trump signed isn't good or isn't something that will be beneficial to America. Because of the recent terrorist attcks that have sprouted all over the world and the history that our own country has had with terrorist attacks it is necessary that we ensure our country's safety. Do I believe that every refugee that comes to America is a criminal? No. Do I believe that refugees shouldn't be allowed in our country at all? No. I simply believe that if we want our country to be what it should be and what it was promised to be than we need to take precautions to "Make America Great Again." Our country was rooted on the idea of the American Dream. The dream that people could come here and be safe and live in a place where there dreams can come true and they can prosper and become the greatest version of themselves. If we don't take certain security measures than that dream will no longer exist. Before we let other people enter our country, we need to better it so we can be prepared for everyone else to come so we can make sure our country doesn't fall to the ground and that the dream doesn't die. I love our country and I agree that sometimes it's necssary to take actions, such as the 4 month ban, to make our country safe again. In making it safe again, we can make it great again.
